LIBRARY - WHAT WE DO

What We Do

Promoting reading, in all forms, is a huge part of the life of the library.  We do this in various ways including whole school book events to celebrate World Book Day, Scottish Book Week and Roald Dahl Day.  We also support the annual trip to Edinburgh Book Festival.  We offer a calm, quiet space for our sixth year pupils who choose to study in the library, where they can access various resources including use of the PCs.

Our catalogue is fully computerised with an online access catalogue:

SOUTH AYRSHIRE LIBRARY CATALOGUE

This catalogue details not only stock held in school but offers staff and pupils access to stock held across the whole of South Ayrshire, which they can borrow and return here at Kyle Academy.  To further enhance the library experience we have an app that can be downloaded for apple and android devices, where eBooks and audio books can be easily borrowed.

The library is a busy hub within the school and used for many different events, including meetings, parents’ nights, and game console competitions, to name a few.  The addition of an interactive whiteboard in 2015 offers staff a digital medium to communicate with pupils and advertise the many activities ongoing in the library and wider school community.
